UK sanctioned a banker it calls a financial adviser to Sudan's RSF leader

On 5 February 2026 the UK government designated six individuals under its Sudan sanctions regime. They include Mustafa Ibrahim Abdel Nabi Mohamed, whom it described as director of the UK-sanctioned al-Khaleej Bank, majority shareholder of Shield Protective Solutions Co. Ltd. (Sudan), and financial adviser to the RSF leader, 'suspected of helping the illicit financing of the RSF's military campaign'. The package also sanctioned SAF-aligned commander Abu Aqla Mohamed Kaikal, RSF field commander Hussein Barsham, and three Colombian nationals accused of recruiting former Colombian military personnel for the RSF. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said there must be 'a price to pay' for those who have allowed the atrocities. These are UK government allegations; no court has ruled on them.
