Dolton says a bank let ex-mayor Henyard sign away $1.8M alone; she still faces no charges

Subject of this story
Tiffany Henyard, Former Mayor of Dolton and former Thornton Township Supervisor
01 · What happened

In February 2026 the Village of Dolton sued Fifth Third Bank in Cook County, alleging the bank ignored a May 2021 village resolution requiring two signatures on checks and processed checks signed only by then-Mayor Tiffany Henyard through mid-2023. The suit says the bank had knowledge Henyard was misappropriating public funds and seeks to recover about $1.8 million. A 2024 financial probe reportedly found the village's account fell from a $5.6 million balance to a $3.6 million deficit. Henyard is not a defendant and has not been charged; former aides have faced federal charges, and FBI subpoenas were served in 2024. Her lawyer said she has moved on and blamed the village board. Henyard lost the 2025 primary with Jason House taking 87 percent, was ordered to court over unproduced public records, and is running for Fulton County Commission in Georgia.
