Boise County commissioner accused of stabbing a teen; AG asked if officials stalled it
A lawsuit filed March 26, 2026, by Abby Beard and her two children says Boise County Commissioner Darrell "Lindy" Lindstrom and two other men assaulted the family on the Main Payette River on Aug. 23, 2025, and that Lindstrom stabbed the teenage daughter in the leg. The family says it faced delays from Boise County authorities after filing police reports. Sheriff Scott Turner said his office finished its investigation and sent it to Prosecuting Attorney Alex Sosa, who cited a conflict and had the case moved to an outside prosecutor. Sosa also asked the Idaho Attorney General to examine allegations that commissioners interfered with the sheriff's investigation, plus open meeting violations and a county fuel tank parked at a commissioner's home. Lindstrom denies stabbing anyone and has countersued. No charging decision has been reported; he remains a commissioner.
