What happened
The Justice K. Hema Committee, set up by the Kerala government, submitted its report on sexual harassment and working conditions for women in the Malayalam film industry on 31 December 2019. The government released a redacted version only on 19 August 2024, after the Kerala State Information Commission approved its release under the Right to Information Act, and it also left out 11 paragraphs that the Commission had not cleared for withholding. On 10 September 2024 a special High Court bench told the state 'You have done nothing in 4 years except sit on the report', citing its failure to register FIRs. The state told the court in June 2025 that its Special Investigation Team had closed all 35 cases it eventually opened after none of the women came forward to give statements.
