What happened
Tuzla Cantonal prosecutors indicted seven people on September 11, 2026 over the November 4, 2025 fire at a City of Tuzla-run care home that killed 15 elderly residents and injured more than 30; the home housed about 180 residents, 110 of them seriously ill, immobile or disabled. Those charged are the former director (also charged with abuse of office), the service head, the fire and occupational-safety officer, three employees of the company Inproz that prepared the home's 2021 fire risk assessment, and a Tuzla Canton fire-safety inspector. Prosecutors allege that from April 2021 to November 2025 they failed to implement legally required fire-safety measures at a facility classified as high-risk. The indictment awaits confirmation by the Cantonal Court and the defendants are presumed innocent.
