What happened
The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) found Monrovia Consolidated School System Superintendent James A.S. Momoh liable for violating Public Procurement and Concessions Commission rules, extortion, abuse of office and criminal conspiracy, according to an Executive Mansion release. The MCSS Board said transactions totaling about US$1.6 million were made without its approval, including a US$357,500 purchase of 6,500 desks and chairs and a US$451,150 laboratory-supplies contract signed July 11, 2024. President Joseph Boakai suspended Momoh without pay on June 24, 2025 and dismissed him in a release dated November 14, 2025, ordering him to report to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution. Momoh denies the allegations and calls them politically motivated; no court has ruled.
