Osseo schools ignored reports an assistant principal harassed a 9-year-old, state found
The Minnesota Department of Human Rights found that Osseo Area Schools violated the Minnesota Human Rights Act by failing to stop an assistant principal from sexually harassing a fourth-grade girl during the 2021-22 school year. According to the department, he told her he could not stop looking at her, sought her out and inappropriately touched her; the district had credible reports from students, teachers and her parents but took no meaningful action, and her parents withdrew her. Under an Oct. 28, 2025 settlement the district pays her $61,500, sends a written apology and must train staff, with five years of state monitoring. The assistant principal, who has not been publicly named, resigned in August 2022; no criminal charges were filed. The district said student safety is its top priority and training has increased.
