What happened
On 16 October 2025 Lord Mayor Nick Reece and councillors Roshena Campbell, Kevin Louey and Mark Scott left the Future Melbourne Committee chamber for a vote on a $160 million, 52-storey tower at 93-103 Clarendon Street, Southbank, citing a donation from a company related to the applicant. Local outlets report that Team Reece received $2,000 in 2024 from LAS Investments Corporation, affiliated with applicant LAS Property Management, while Reece's 2024 campaign had said it would not accept donations from property developers in the City of Melbourne. The remaining seven councillors voted unanimously for a 'no objection' response and referred the application to the state planning minister, who has since approved it.
