PA security forces ran an operation in the Jenin camp from 5 December 2024 to about 21 January 2025. Middle East Eye reported on 28 December 2024 videos appearing to show detainees beaten, and PA spokesman Anwar Rajab said forces were investigating; the Independent Commission for Human Rights called for a thorough investigation. Al Jazeera reported activists summoned over posts criticising the operation and journalist Shatha al-Sabbagh shot dead on 28 December 2024, and that the PA banned Al Jazeera in early January 2025 (later lifted).
