What happened
On 19 August 2026 the Israeli military's Military Advocate General's Corps announced it would not open criminal investigations into the 1 April 2024 drone strikes that killed seven World Central Kitchen workers, or into two Doctors Without Borders incidents (November 2023 and February 2024). It said the commanders' decisions in the WCK case did not cross the criminal threshold despite failures in the process, and the IDF had already removed or reprimanded some officers. Australia, Canada and the UK issued a joint statement on 21 August calling the decision, made without further explanation, 'shameful'.
