01 · What happened

In February 2026 Bloomberg reported that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Azam Baki held about 17.7 million shares in Velocity Capital Partner Bhd, which would exceed a 2024 civil-service circular limiting share purchases to RM100,000. The MACC said he complied with asset-declaration requirements and declared the shares internally; Azam acknowledged buying and selling the shares in 2025 without profit. An Attorney General-led special committee reported to Cabinet in March, the Public Service Department Disciplinary Board took up the matter, and on 25 April the government said the probe was complete and the next step lay with the Chief Secretary. Azam's term ended on 12 May 2026; as of 2 September, politician Rafizi Ramli was still urging the Prime Minister to disclose the investigation papers.
