Labor Department inspectors who find child workers decide alone whether to call for help

How to do it
Call WHD's national line and ask that your message go to WHD leadership. Cite DOL OIG advisory report 17-25-001-15-001 (September 30, 2025): when investigators find a minor on the job, only their own 'good judgment' decides whether to call child protective services or police, and in one 2024 case a minor was referred for possible trafficking months after he stopped responding. Ask WHD to adopt a written, mandatory referral protocol for minors found during child-labor investigations, with a same-day deadline.
