Florida got only 45 of 120 child sex-trafficking victims into the safe homes they needed

The Statewide Council, whose statutory duties include recommendations on certifying safe houses and safe foster homes and whose meetings are run by DCF's Deputy Secretary, meets October 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM; council meetings are public and have been held virtually with a stream on TheFloridaChannel.org. Before the meeting, contact the council staff listed on the meetings page and ask members to take up OPPAGA Report 26-03: only 45 of 120 child sex-trafficking victims recommended for a safe house or safe foster home were placed in one in FY2024-25, the Northwest region has none, and DCF is not keeping the individual placement data a 2025 law requires. Ask the council to recommend added safe-home capacity and to hold DCF to the data requirement.
