How to do it

The Office for Environmental Protection found the Environment Agency recorded waste sites it never inspected as fully compliant. If you live or work near an EA-regulated waste site and see problems such as odour, dust, leaks, fires, overflowing stockpiles or polluted runoff, report each incident to the EA's 24-hour hotline on 0800 80 70 60. Give an email address so you get a reference number. Ask that the site be inspected, and that the inspection be logged against the OEP recommendations Defra accepted on 15 September 2026. If the EA does not respond adequately, use the EA's formal complaints procedure; after that you are eligible to complain to the OEP.
