Israel Defense Forces (IDF)

Israel's military; the force carrying out the genocide in Gaza

Military · Israel · Organization

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out the assault on Gaza and the wars on Lebanon and Iran from October 2023, using US-made JDAMs, GBU-39s, Hellfires and 2,000-pound bombs. Gaza's Ministry of Health reported 74,016 Palestinians killed and 175,068 injured from 7 October 2023 to 26 September 2026. UN OCHA, citing the ministry, recorded 1,334 more killed after the 10 October 2025 ceasefire, as of 2 September 2026; the ceasefire, in other words, did not stop the killing. Amnesty, CNN, NPR and Bellingcat traced US bombs to strikes on homes, tent camps and UN schools, including Rafah on 26 May 2024 (at least 45 killed) and Nuseirat on 6 June 2024 (at least 32 killed). The ICJ ordered provisional measures in January 2024. The ICC issued arrest warrants in November 2024 alleging starvation as a method of warfare and attacks on civilians. In September 2025 the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded Israel committed genocide. In 2026 Amnesty said US-Israeli strikes on Tehran may amount to war crimes.
