Georgia's prison system failed to stop record killings inside its prisons and undercounted the homicides, DOJ found

In an October 1, 2024 findings report, the U.S. Justice Department concluded the State of Georgia and its Department of Corrections violate the Eighth Amendment by failing to protect people in its prisons from violence and sexual abuse, and are deliberately indifferent to the risk.
