What happened
On 25 August 2025 two strikes on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis killed 20 to 22 people, including five journalists. The IDF said it targeted a Hamas surveillance camera; its preliminary inquiry found tank fire was authorized by a division commander but not by Southern Command, and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir ordered the probe widened. As of August 2026 the IDF told AP the incident was still being examined, said findings would go to the Military Advocate General to decide on a criminal investigation, and gave no timeline; no one has been disciplined or charged.
