Investigation confirms Nestle adds sugar to infant cereals sold in poorer countries (e.g. Senegal, South Africa, Nigeria) that are sugar-free in Switzerland and other wealthy markets
A joint investigation by Swiss watchdog Public Eye and the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) lab-tested 150 Nestle baby-food products (Cerelac, Nido brands) sold across Africa, Asia and Latin America and found roughly 94% contained added sugar or honey, while identical or comparable products sold in Switzerland and other European markets were labeled with no added sugar. Cerelac cereal sold in Senegal and South Africa contained about 6g of added sugar per serving versus none in Switzerland.
