Ethiopian Media Authority revokes Addis Standard's registration, which the outlet says came without prior notice of violations

On 24 February 2026, three months before national elections, the Ethiopian Media Authority revoked the registration of the independent online outlet Addis Standard, saying it had repeatedly published reports that violated media ethics and Ethiopian law and endangered national interests. HRW says the authority gave no specific violations.
