Weapon system · United States · Weapon system
The AGM-114 Hellfire is a laser-guided air-to-surface missile made by Lockheed Martin in Troy, Alabama, and fired by Israel's Apache helicopters and drones. Its listed unit cost was about $150,000 in FY2021. According to AFSC, some 2,000 Hellfires were delivered to Israel between 7 October and 14 November 2023. Bellingcat's 2026 investigation of US-made munitions in Gaza found that a Hellfire was used in a June 2024 strike on a Gaza City health clinic that killed Hani al-Jafarawi, director of Gaza's ambulance and emergency services. It also found Hellfires used in four strikes on tents within about 150 metres of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and Hellfire remnants after a July 2025 strike on Cairo Basic School that reportedly killed five people. In February 2025 the State Department notified a further $660M sale of 3,000 Hellfires to Israel, with Lockheed Martin as principal contractor.
