What happened
In early September 2026 Israel's High Court of Justice ordered the state to let three Palestinian families return to the village of Jalud within 14 days and to provide security, after an outpost set up on 19 April led to months of incursions and the families' departure on 22 July. The justices called the enforcement picture 'very grim' (JPost), noted video of soldiers and intruders playing soccer in a house courtyard (an IDF officer told the court these were unbriefed reinforcements since removed from combat duties) and questioned why police did not arrest suspects identified in footage. In late September, more than 100 settlers attacked soldiers and Border Police to block one family's return; three people were arrested and Prime Minister Netanyahu condemned the violence.
