Denver City Attorney Miko Brown's own texts show she pushed to hire her former law firm after the airport's insurer rejected it, contradicting her office's denial
Internal emails and texts obtained by CBS News Colorado show Denver City Attorney Miko Brown actively lobbied to get her former firm, Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell (where she was a partner 2007-2017), hired for legal work after a May 8, 2026 runway death at Denver International Airport, including calling the insurer AIG's initial rejection 'ridiculous' and writing 'we should really push hard for WTO.' AIG reversed course days later. Denver's Board of Ethics voted unanimously 3-0 on September 9, 2026 to formally investigate two complaints against Brown, one over the airport matter and one over WTO billing roughly $850,000 in four months against a $470,000 cap on separate city litigation.
