Elbit Systems

Israeli arms maker; its drone killed World Central Kitchen aid workers

Company · Israel · Organization

Elbit Systems is Israel's largest private arms manufacturer and the main supplier of the drones Israel's military flies over Gaza and Lebanon. On April 1, 2024 an Elbit Hermes 450 drone fired the missiles that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in a convoy in Gaza. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese's July 2025 report names drones largely developed and supplied by Elbit and IAI as flying alongside Israel's fighter jets. For Elbit, the wars have meant record business. Israel's Ministry of Defense gave it $183M for air munitions in Jan 2026, about $200M more in April 2026 tied to the Iran campaign, and $48M for tens of thousands of 155mm artillery shells. Elbit also makes the ATMOS howitzer and PULS rocket launcher, which it sells to NATO armies as products with a track record. In H1 2026 it reported $4.48B in revenue and $334M in net income, with a record $32.0B backlog at June 30, 2026. Federmann Enterprises controls 41.2% of its shares.
