Michael Federmann, born in 1944, owns Federmann Enterprises, the family holding company that with an affiliate votes about 41.2% of Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapons maker. He chaired Elbit's board until his son David took over in August 2023, and chairs Dan Hotels. Elbit's 2026 proxy credits him personally with about a 5.1% economic interest, and Forbes puts his family's net worth at $9.6B (16 Sep 2026). Elbit makes 85% of the drones used by the Israeli Air Force and 85% of the army's land equipment; an Elbit Hermes 450 drone was used in the 2024 strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza. Elbit's revenue reached $7.94B in 2025. Francesca Albanese's July 2025 UN report describes Elbit as one of the 'pillars' of Israel's military-industrial complex. Federmann chairs the board of trustees of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and holds an honorary British CBE for UK–Israel business ties, honours that sit comfortably beside the drones.
