Rafael Advanced Defense Systems

Israeli state arms maker; Spike missiles, Iron Dome, David's Sling

Company · Israel · Organization

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems is wholly owned by the State of Israel and makes Iron Dome, David's Sling, SPYDER and the Spike missile family. According to reports, Spike missiles fired from an Elbit Hermes 450 drone killed seven World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza on April 1, 2024. Israel's navy fired Spike NLOS missiles at the Gaza coast during the 2023 invasion. R2S, Rafael's U.S. joint venture with Raytheon, won a $1.25B contract in Nov 2025 for Tamir Iron Dome interceptors to be built in Arkansas, so U.S. workers now refill the shield that lets the bombing continue. Sales reached about $6.8B in 2025, with $423M net profit, and H1 2026 sales were NIS 10.63B. Its backlog stood at NIS 76.4B ($24B) on March 31, 2026, and Israel's Ministry of Defense owed it almost NIS 7B for equipment received. Greece's Aug 2026 'Achilles Shield' deal, worth about €3B, includes David's Sling and SPYDER.
