Greece 'Achilles Shield' air-interception deal (2026)

Arms procurement from Israel (Rafael/IAI), ~€3B

Contract or deal

On 31 August 2026 Israel and Greece signed the "Achilles Shield" deal, worth about €3B. Israel's Ministry of Defense calls it the largest arms export deal in the history of Israel–Greece relations and one of the largest in Israel's history. Rafael will supply David's Sling, SPYDER and a national command-and-control system; Israel Aerospace Industries will supply Barak MX; and its ELTA unit will supply MMR radars. A separate €26M deal covers Rafael Drone Dome systems. No delivery schedule was published. The ministry said the array draws "on the extensive operational experience Israel's military establishment has gained during the war", and that "operational successes of Israeli systems on the battlefield continue to reinforce global demand". The deal was signed almost a year after the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.
