Capital Group

Private asset manager; largest shareholder of BAE Systems

Asset manager · Organization

Capital Group is a privately owned Los Angeles investment firm founded in 1931, with more than $3.6T under management as of June 30, 2026. Through its American Funds units it is the single largest shareholder of BAE Systems, with 11.04% of voting rights as of Jan 22, 2026. BAE builds the rear fuselage of every F-35, including Israel's, and those components were exempted when the UK suspended arms licences to Israel; Capital Group's biggest arms holding is therefore the one Britain chose not to touch. As of March 31, 2026 its investment arms also held 5.2% of Boeing, 5.2% of Northrop Grumman and 3.9% of RTX, and at mid-2026 they held about 3.1M Lockheed Martin shares and 3.7M General Dynamics shares. Its returns are tied to the F-35s, GBU-39s and interceptors used in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran, during what the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded in Sept 2025 was a genocide in Gaza.
