Arms procurement from Israel (IAI)
Contract or deal
On 23 December 2024 Israel's Ministry of Defense announced that Slovakia would buy Israel Aerospace Industries' Barak MX anti-aircraft and anti-missile system for about €560M. The deal was made government to government through the ministry's export directorate, SIBAT. The first battery was delivered to the Slovak Armed Forces in April 2026, with full readiness expected weeks later. The money goes to IAI, which is wholly owned by the Israeli state. The deal was signed more than a year into Israel's genocide in Gaza, after the ICJ's January 2024 provisional-measures order and the ICC's November 2024 arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. It added to a record year in which Europe accounted for 54% of Israel's arms export deals.
