Buyer of IAI's Barak MX, paid straight to the Israeli state
Agency · Slovakia · Organization
Slovakia's government bought Israel Aerospace Industries' Barak MX anti-aircraft and anti-missile system for about €560M in a government-to-government deal that Israel's Ministry of Defense announced on 23 December 2024. Israel delivered the first battery to the Slovak Armed Forces in April 2026, with full readiness expected weeks later. The deal came after the ICJ's 2024 provisional-measures orders and a month after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israel's prime minister and former military minister, so Bratislava cannot claim it was not warned. The full price goes to IAI, which is wholly owned by the Israeli state, so the payment flows directly to the state waging the war. IAI promotes Barak MX as 'combat-proven' against 'Iran and its proxies'. Slovakia's purchase added to the record European share of Israeli arms export deals in 2024.
