JD Vance

Thiel-made US vice president; excuses the Gaza genocide, backs Israel's war on Iran

Thiel-made US vice president · Person · United States

James David "JD" Vance, vice president since January 2025 and a 2028 presidential hopeful, is the political creation of Peter Thiel, the billionaire co-founder of Palantir, the surveillance firm wired into Israel's killing machine. Thiel employed Vance at his venture firm Mithril Capital, then poured $15 million into the Protect Ohio Values super PAC behind Vance's 2022 Senate run. Palantir signed a January 2024 pact with Israel's military ministry for "war-related missions", and a UN Special Rapporteur found "reasonable grounds" to believe it helped generate target lists through AI systems like "Lavender" and "Gospel"; its quarterly revenue has since nearly doubled to $1.94 billion. Vance sits second in an administration that in March 2025 used emergency powers to rush some $4 billion in arms to Israel, including more than 35,500 MK-84 and BLU-117 bombs. He waved away the genocide in Gaza: "I don't think that the Israelis are purposely trying to go in and murder every Palestinian," and threatened that Hamas "would be obliterated". He cheered the June 2025 US bombing of Iran ("We're at war with Iran's nuclear program") and defended the US-Israeli war on Iran launched on 28 February 2026: "That is the goal of this operation." By September 2026, with thousands dead in Iran, he insisted: "I wouldn't call it a war." Track AIPAC credits him with $81,985 in Israel-lobby money.
