Arms procurement from Israel (Rafael/RTX)
Contract or deal
Finland was the first foreign customer for David's Sling. Its Military ministry chose the system in April 2023, and the contract with Israel's Ministry of Defense was signed on 12 November 2023, five weeks into the bombardment of Gaza. The contract is worth about €317M: a €213M main contract plus €103M in options exercised immediately. It covers Israeli-American interceptors, launchers and Israeli radars. Industry reporting expects initial deliveries from 2025 and full operational capability by 2030. We have not found a confirmed 2026 delivery date. The money goes to state-owned Rafael and its US partner RTX. The system's combat record, used to sell it, comes from intercepting rockets fired during Israel's campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon and missiles from Iran. Finland went ahead after the ICJ ordered provisional measures against Israel in January 2024.
