Buyer of David's Sling, signed five weeks into the bombardment
Agency · Finland · Organization
Finland's government became the first export customer for Rafael and RTX's David's Sling. The Ministry of Defence authorised the purchase in April 2023, and the contract was signed with Israel's Ministry of Defense on 12 November 2023, five weeks into the bombardment of Gaza. The contract is worth about €317M, including €103M of options exercised immediately, with first deliveries expected from 2025 and full capability by 2030. Finland went ahead after the ICJ's January 2024 provisional-measures order. It is part of a wider European rush for Israeli interceptor systems: Europe took 54% of Israel's record $14.7B in 2024 arms export deals. The money goes to state-owned Rafael, whose systems are marketed on their wartime record, and to RTX. We could not confirm Finland's 2026 delivery status or any further Finnish purchases from Israel, which remain open questions.
