Wesley Bell

U.S. Representative for Missouri's 1st district since 2025 and former St. Louis County prosecuting attorney; won the Aug. 4, 2026 Democratic primary over Cori Bush

U.S. Representative, MO-1 · Person · Missouri

Wesley Bell, then St. Louis County's prosecuting attorney, defeated Representative Cori Bush in the 6 August 2024 Democratic primary for Missouri's 1st District. The United Democracy Project, AIPAC's super PAC, spent $3.3M backing Bell and more than $5.2M against Bush, according to FactCheck.org's review of FEC filings; Wikipedia counts $9M spent against Bush, the second most expensive House primary in history. Bush had introduced a Gaza ceasefire resolution in October 2023. Bell entered Congress in January 2025 and beat Bush again in the 2026 primary rematch, 59.2% to 36.9%, keeping the seat in the hands of a candidate AIPAC's money helped elect.
