Largest military spender and main arms supplier to Israel

Country · United States · Country

The United States is the single largest military power on earth and the indispensable armourer of Israel's wars on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. Treasury data show military outlays (the budget's 'National Defense' function) rising from $591B in FY2015 to $917B in FY2025, with $876B already spent in the first eleven months of FY2026; SIPRI counts $954B in 2025, a third of world military spending. The US supplied 68% of Israel's major arms imports in 2021–25. The Costs of War Project at Brown University counts at least $21.7B in US military aid to Israel from October 2023 to September 2025, and the Congressional Research Service puts total aid since 1946 at $298B in 2024 dollars. Since January 2025 Washington has notified Apache helicopters, bombs and guidance kits, using emergency waivers to bypass Congress, even after the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded in September 2025 that Israel committed genocide and urged states to halt arms transfers.
