U.S. Congress

US legislature; funds and waves through Israel's weapons

Agency · United States · Organization

The US Congress holds the purse strings and can block arms sales, and it has consistently chosen to arm Israel through the genocide. In April 2024 the House passed the $26.38B Israel Security Supplemental by 366 to 58. The bill included $4B for Iron Dome and David's Sling, $1.2B for Iron Beam, $3.5B in Foreign Military Financing, $1B for artillery and munitions production, and $4.4B to refill US stocks sent to Israel. It also banned funding for UNRWA, the main UN aid agency for Palestinians. On 20 November 2024 the Senate voted 17 to 80 against even advancing Bernie Sanders' resolution to block a weapons export licence to Israel. Congress let the 2025 bomb and JDAM sales proceed without a block. Members who oppose aid to Israel, such as Thomas Massie, have been targeted with millions in AIPAC-linked spending. The UN Commission of Inquiry found in September 2025 that Israel committed genocide.
