Paul Singer

Hedge-fund billionaire; bankroller of hawkish pro-Israel causes

Hedge-fund billionaire · Person

Paul Singer founded the hedge fund Elliott Management in 1977 with $1.3M; Forbes says it now oversees more than $80B and puts his net worth at $7.2B (19 Sep 2026). One of the Republican Party's largest funders, he gave $5M to Donald Trump's 2024 re-election effort, according to Wikipedia's account of filings. Singer is a 'longtime supporter of hawkish pro-Israel causes': a major funder of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a board member of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a former board member of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, and an investor of about $20M in Start-Up Nation Central, which promotes Israel's tech sector. The Paul E. Singer Foundation reported grants to Friends of the Israel Defense Forces on its IRS filings, including $1.04M in fiscal 2015. Forbes notes he gives heavily to Jewish and pro-Israel groups and has put about $300M into his foundation since 2010. The think tanks argue for war; the foundation pays for the soldiers.
