U.S. Representative, NY-16 · Person · New York
George Latimer, Westchester County Executive, challenged Representative Jamaal Bowman in the June 2024 Democratic primary for New York's 16th District with heavy backing from AIPAC. The United Democracy Project, AIPAC's super PAC, spent nearly $4.8M supporting Latimer and almost $9.9M opposing Bowman, according to FactCheck.org's review of FEC filings, in what became the most expensive House primary in US history. Latimer won 58.6% to 41.4% and entered Congress in January 2025, replacing one of the House's most outspoken critics of US support for Israel's genocide in Gaza. Wikipedia puts total AIPAC-linked outside spending benefiting him at $15M.
