AIPAC

Pro-Israel lobby; buys primaries to unseat critics of the genocide

Nonprofit · United States · Organization

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is widely regarded as the most powerful pro-Israel lobby in Washington. It is a 501(c)(4) group that since late 2021 has also run two election vehicles: AIPAC PAC, which channels donations to candidates, and the United Democracy Project (UDP) super PAC. FEC filings show the two raised about $145M in the 2024 cycle (AIPAC PAC $57.9M, UDP $87.2M) and about $162M from January 2025 to August 2026 (AIPAC PAC $52.3M, UDP $109.7M). That money is used to defeat critics of Israel's war. In 2024 UDP spent about $9.9M against Jamaal Bowman and over $5.2M against Cori Bush, both of whom lost. In May 2026 it helped unseat Republican Thomas Massie, a vocal opponent of aid to Israel and of the Iran war. AIPAC presses Congress for unconditional military aid, and Congress obliges: the $26.38B supplemental passed in April 2024, and only 17 senators voted to advance a bid to block arms sales in November 2024.
