Slovenia

Imposed then reversed an arms embargo on Israel

Country · Slovenia · Country

Slovenia announced a complete ban on arms trade with Israel on July 30, 2025, one of the first EU states to do so after the Gaza famine warnings. According to an overview of embargoes since 2023, the government appointed in June 2026 reversed many of the measures its predecessor had imposed on Israel, including the arms embargo. Slovenia's case shows how quickly European restrictions can be dropped once political pressure fades, even after the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded in September 2025 that Israel committed genocide and called on states to halt arms transfers. Trade volumes are small, and Slovenian licence values to Israel for 2023–2025 have not been verified.
