NSO Pegasus client that targeted more than 3,500 numbers
Country · Rwanda · Country
Rwanda under Paul Kagame was among NSO Group's most prolific African clients. Amnesty International and the Pegasus Project found that Rwandan authorities selected more than 3,500 phone numbers of activists, journalists, political opponents, foreign politicians and diplomats for targeting with Pegasus spyware from 2016. Pegasus is made by an Israeli company, NSO Group, and Kigali paid for the same tools that Israeli intelligence perfected on occupied Palestinians, in the opinion of this map. Charge: buying the occupation's surveillance know-how.
