Maven Smart System

Palantir AI targeting platform used by the U.S. military

Weapon system · United States · Weapon system

Maven Smart System is Palantir's AI targeting platform for the U.S. military. It began under a $480M contract in May 2024, its ceiling rose to nearly $1.3B through 2029 in May 2025, and in March 2026 the Pentagon made it a program of record, already the main AI system for U.S. strikes on Iran, Reuters reported. Anthropic's Claude was embedded in it during the Iran campaign. Bloomberg found that the Minab school, wrongly catalogued as a military site, was fed into Maven and came out as a recommended day-one target; the strike killed more than 150 people, at least 123 of them children.
