Malta

EU arms licensor to Israel

Country · Malta · Country

Malta, one of the EU's smallest states, licensed €7.41M of military exports to Israel in 2023, more than Sweden, Luxembourg or Hungary, and recorded €1.97M in actual arms exports, according to the EU's annual arms-export report. Three licences account for the total. They were issued in the year Israel began the assault on Gaza that the UN Commission of Inquiry concluded in September 2025 was genocide; the Commission urged all states to halt arms transfers that may be used for genocidal acts. The EU report does not say what equipment was licensed, a gap common to the annual data, which list licence values by category but not by product or end user.
