Israel 2,000-lb bomb package – Sept 2026 (informal notification, on hold)

Proposed FMF-funded Foreign Military Sale, held in Congress

Contract or deal · United States · Contract or deal

In September 2026 the Trump administration informally notified Congress of a proposed $2.8B sale to Israel of 40,000 2,000-pound bombs: 20,000 MK-84 general-purpose bombs and 20,000 BLU-117s, plus I-2000 penetrator warheads, mostly paid for with U.S. Foreign Military Financing. On 16 September 2026 Rep. Gregory Meeks, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, officially announced a hold on the proposed sale, saying the administration had 'not provided sufficient assurances that these weapons will be used by the Netanyahu government in accordance with U.S. law'. These are the one-ton bombs that JDAM kits turn into guided weapons and that Bellingcat documented destroying high-rises in Gaza City in 2025. No contractor has been named; General Dynamics made the bomb bodies in the comparable February 2025 sale.
