Shanghai port operator SIPG runs Haifa Bayport

Country · China · Country

China casts itself as a friend of Palestine, while a Shanghai port operator runs part of Israel's main northern port. Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) holds a 25-year concession, granted in 2015, to run the Haifa Bayport terminal, which began operating in September 2021. The operator has kept the terminal running through the genocide, the war on Lebanon and the strikes on Iran, earning from every container. It is a commercial lifeline, not a weapon, but it is Chinese capital invested in Israel's economy. Charge: rhetoric in New York, cranes in Haifa.
