Elite BIR unit armed with IWI rifles, overseen by ex-IDF officers

Country · Cameroon · Country

Cameroon's elite Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) is an Israeli product line. DIMSE reports that every BIR recruit since 2009 has been issued a new rifle from Israel Weapon Industries (Galil, Tavor, ACE, Negev), alongside Soltam mortars and howitzers and Elbit-linked hardware, and that the unit has been "continuously overseen by former IDF officers". No post-2023 contract is documented here. Charge: an army of occupation, exported as a franchise.
