Andy Levin

Former U.S. Representative, Michigan (UDP-opposed, lost 2022)

Former U.S. Representative, Michigan (UDP-opposed, lost 2022) · Person · United States

Andy Levin, a Democratic congressman from Michigan, lost the August 2022 primary to fellow incumbent Haley Stevens after redistricting merged their seats into one with more of Stevens's voters. FactCheck.org's tally of FEC filings shows the United Democracy Project (UDP), AIPAC's super PAC, spent about $3.88M supporting Stevens and $342,000 directly against Levin; Wikipedia puts AIPAC-linked negative advertising against him at $4.5M. Levin said AIPAC targeted him because 'I am the clearest, strongest Jewish voice in Congress standing for a simple proposition: that there is no way to have a secure, democratic homeland for the Jewish people unless we achieve the political and human rights of the Palestinian people.' After leaving Congress in January 2023 he was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and returned to his clean-energy group, Lean & Green Michigan.
