Andy Jassy

Amazon CEO; Amazon Web Services is a provider under Israel's Project Nimbus cloud contract

Amazon CEO · Person

Andy Jassy built Amazon Web Services and has been Amazon's president and CEO since July 2021. Amazon reports his 2025 compensation at about $2.1M, a $365,000 salary plus $1.7M of security and travel, but $43M of his stock vested in 2025 and he held $242M of unvested stock at year-end; his 2021 CEO grant took that year's pay above $200M. Under Jassy, AWS and Google have run Project Nimbus, Israel's $1.2B government cloud contract, and +972 Magazine and Local Call reported in 2024 that AWS hosts a server farm storing intelligence for Israel's Military Intelligence Directorate during the genocide in Gaza. Francesca Albanese's July 2025 UN report names Amazon among firms granting Israel 'virtually government-wide access' to cloud and AI technologies; two months later the UN Commission of Inquiry found that Israel had committed genocide. TechSpot noted Amazon laid off 30,000 workers while Jassy's reported pay rose about 30%. Efficiency, it seems, applies downward.
