Adam Hollier

Former Michigan state senator (UDP-backed, lost)

Former Michigan state senator (UDP-backed, lost) · Person · United States

Adam Hollier, a former Michigan state senator, was the favoured candidate of the United Democracy Project (UDP), AIPAC's super PAC, in the August 2022 Democratic primary for Michigan's 13th District. UDP spent about $2.74M supporting him and $1.43M opposing Shri Thanedar, FactCheck.org reported from FEC filings, more than $4M in one Detroit primary. Thanedar won. Governor Gretchen Whitmer then appointed Hollier director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency from January 2023. He was disqualified from the 2024 primary ballot for lacking enough valid petition signatures, withdrew from later congressional and Secretary of State bids, and has filed to run for a non-consecutive second term in the Michigan Senate. His race showed that heavy AIPAC spending could fail in a district with a strong local opponent.
