Zohran Mamdani

Mayor of New York City since January 1, 2026 (elected November 2025)

Mayor of New York City (since January 1, 2026) · Person · United States

Zohran Mamdani, then a New York State assembly member, committed the one offence New York's billionaire class does not forgive: he won. On 4 November 2025 he took just over 50% of the mayoral vote, according to TIME, after super PACs put $28.4M behind Andrew Cuomo in the general election alone, against about $4M from the three biggest pro-Mamdani PACs (Citizens Union). Michael Bloomberg's $13.3M was likely the largest individual sum ever spent backing another candidate in New York. As mayor, in July 2026 he called Benjamin Netanyahu "the architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people" and urged Washington to execute the ICC arrest warrant.
