US regional military operations 2023–25

Aggregate: cost of US regional operations Oct 2023–Sep 2025

Organization

This node is not a single operation. It stands for the extra cost of US military operations across the Middle East launched in support of Israel after October 2023. These include naval and air deployments, strikes on the Houthis in Yemen and the Red Sea, and the interception of Iranian and allied missiles and drones aimed at Israel. Brown University's Costs of War project, citing Harvard economist Linda Bilmes, estimates these operations cost $9.65B–$12.07B from October 2023 to September 2025. This is on top of the $21.7B in direct military aid to Israel over the same period. The April 2024 Israel supplemental alone included $2.4B for "current U.S. military operations in the region". The 2026 war on Iran is recorded separately. A clearer label is "US regional military operations 2023–25".
